Abstract. The present study investigates the flow dynamics of viscous fluid threads interacting with a less viscous fluid and their stability as they flow through a Hele-Shaw microfluidic cell. We study multiple liquid pairs and identify for the first time several flow regimes, including the well-known Kelvin-Helmholtz instability.
